inspection tip sheet
At Worcester Elevator Company, we know inspection time can cause you quite the headache. That’s why we put together a tip sheet to help keep you on track and your elevators in tip-top condition so that Inspection Day is just another day.
Here’s what you need to know regarding your next elevator inspection:
Both freight and passenger elevators MUST be tested yearly.
Annual Permit Fees MUST be paid prior to Certificate Expiration (DPL asks 90 days prior for timely scheduling).
Civil Fines WILL be assessed if the Permit Fee is paid after it the expiration date ($100/day).
Don’t forget about the new Pre-Inspection Protocol:
Per the direction of the Chief Elevator Inspector all units must have a pre-inspection protocol performed within 30 days of a scheduled Inspection.
A signed pre-inspection form must be present at the unit at the time of the inspection.
Types of Units that fall under 2-Year Inspection Rules:
LULA’s, Dumbwaiters, Wheelchair Lifts, and VRC’s MUST be tested every 2 years.
Fees MUST be paid prior to Certificate Expiration (DPL asks 90 days prior for timely scheduling).
Civil Fines WILL be assessed if Permit Fee is paid after expiration ($100/day).
REMEMBER: Units that are not being tested MUST be decommissioned and taken out of service by applying for a decommission permit fee and hiring an Elevator Company to remove the unit from service. This will remove the State ID# from the DPL’s database and no longer be required to test.
